DIY countertops

I have some scratches on my kitchen countertop and have always wanted to upgrade my countertops but they are very expensive and was looking online for some options and came across this idea of Gianni granite and looks from the reviews that it is a great product.
I plan of getting some in the near future so we can start painting those counter tops.

The pictures above are of the steps you need to complete with Gianni granite countertops but I don’t want to mess them up since they will have to last a few more years to get us through

Painted laminate countertops

Ramblings of This Southern Mom.

Yes, you read that right. I painted my laminate countertops. Now before you get all judgmental, let me show you what they look like now. I wasn’t going for a ‘you won’t believe this isn’t granite’ look, but I was going for a faux granite look. You know, the kind of laminate I probably would have picked out if I had been there when this house was built.

So, maybe I’m not that crazy after all. Okay, okay. I am that crazy. That’s why I attempted this. I had to redeem myself for my painted couch fiasco. Which by the way, you should never attempt…No matter what you read online. With that pintrosity in mind, I tackled this project while the hubs was out of town. When he got back he even asked me if I was sure I didn’t hire a professional. I didn’t have the heart to show…

Vintage and Shabby Chic Decor

I have seen so many cute displays using vintage items in alot of stores these days. It takes me back because I see things that I know my grandparents had in their home.

I love some of the modern uses people have for vintage and shabby chic items.
I create alot of crafts and gifts but along with that I also sell vintage and shabby chic items that I think are in great condition and that someone else may have a need for.

I have seen pictures milk glass items such as vases, planters, etc used in so many ways like business card holders, desk organizers, flowers, plants, succulents, paper clip holders, pen holders, a catch all in the foyer area for keys and spare change, in the laundry room to place anything anyone in your home leaves in the pockets, candy dishes and so much more.

I am sure u can come up with some creative ideas yourself for these items and would love for you to leave your comments on what u do with your vintage items. What colors do u like or would like to purchase?

Here are some pictures of items for sale in my etsy shop and as I mentioned in a previous post I have already marked down the prices of vintage and home decor items in my shop so stop on by and see what I have. I am making room for some new finds. http://www.etsy.com/shop/ahindle78
Also feel free to post my etsy shop like or my Facebook link to your pages as well. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Charm-City-Creative-Designs/214517511903785?ref=hl

Cabinet makeover

High Falootin' Junk

Here it is…my Cowgirl/Red Licorice Kitchen. Whew! That was a lot of work and it took longer than planned because we had family reunion slap dab in the middle of my project, but it was a nice break, so I’m not complaining.

I mentioned in Part I that I would explain a little more about why I used wax to finish the kitchen cabinets. I also said that I would give a estimate on how much a job like this would cost as a DIY project and how much I would quote this job for. I want to start by saying that this is not a typical project. It is in my home so I used advanced paint techniques and bold color choices that I probably wouldn’t suggest to the typical client. I have bold taste and I have the ability to repaint at anytime if I need to tone…

Metal chart Upcycled

First off, welcome to our new home! We had outgrown our humble blogger page and decided that the Two Girls were ready for bigger and better things. Thanks for sticking with us!

So, during our summer hiatus I have been working on some furniture projects. I am moving next month(yay!) and am quickly realizing that I need more storage options. Lucky for me, our house has been the family dumping ground for unused and unwanted furniture. I saw this metal cart and instantly knew it had potential for greatness.

Supplies:

Sand paper

Spray paint

Painter’s tape

Sharpies

This is after I cleaned off years worth of dust and grime. It honestly doesn’t look too bad, and if I were going for the industrial look, this is all I would have had to do. I decided this would probably end up in my bedroom, so a black/white/silver combo would go best.

DIY granite countertops

Have you wanted to update your kitchen but just didn’t have the money to spend on granite. I came across a company called giani granite and was impressed with the pictures I seen on there Facebook page and the reviews have been great.

I can’t wait to buy some and try it to my countertops in the future. I wanted to post some of the pics that I got from customers that used their products so if u like check out the product website and their Facebook page.
