Why do we keep all these things?

Why do we keep all of these things?

I’m sure this is a question everyone reading this blog has asked themselves at one point in time.

I know my house is clean and organized but also could use improvements in some areas. One day I was on Instagram and saw a lot of people cleaning and decluttering their homes because of a new show on Netflix with Marie Kondo (I think that’s how you spell it.) Anyways I learned how to fold items to get more in a drawer which I wasn’t currently doing and this helped out a lot, especially my husbands shirts (this man has every under armour shirt in all colors).

I also folded my towels, hand towels and wash clothes and realized we have kept a lot that are tattered or discolored and need to be thrown away which I did do. Later I realized that the towels could have been donated to the dog shelter because they always need towels. I will keep that in mind next time we need new towels. I did keep two or three old towels in the closet under our steps which now I am glad I did because we had a pipe burst and a leaking hot water heater last week and I needed those old towels to help clean up that mess.

I moved on to socks, I basically just folded them together which was stretching out the band of the sock. I asked myself why do we keep all these socks that don’t have a match and may have a hole? So I got rid of a ton and actually had room in the drawer for other items.

I still need to get rid of more but slowly working on it. I can’t wait to get a day off and on trash night leave the trash men a huge surprise in the morning for the next upcoming weeks. I’m sure they won’t be happy. I wish my homeowners association would have a dumpster day cause I’m sure I could fill up some of it. I just don’t feel like selling some of it at a yard sale. I also know the lady who I believe is a hoarder down the road could use one for herself. Lol

Anyways get to organizing and cleaning. I know I will be.

You can always donate used old towels and blankets to your local dog rescues or animal shelters they always need things like this.

Save Money 🏦💰💰💰💲💲

I am always looking for easy ways to save money or make money from selling items I currently own that we do not use anymore.

I found an app called ibotta and totally fell in love with this app, when u join my team and we do are usual shopping and scan in receipts and barcodes it will give us additional money back. Who doesn’t want to save and it is pretty easy to use as well. Not only can u use this app for groceries but for clothing, movies and crafts and much more. The amount of stores they have is awesome.

Once u join my group what happens is that once I hit my monthly goal of savings which changes each month, and our team hits the monthly goal then we all get additional money into our acct. Who wouldn’t want to join the team and help out so that everyone can make a bit more. You can nudge your teammates as well to get them motivated again.

Check it out and click on the link and start helping the team and yourself make extra money on stuff u already buy, add these to coupons u may use in the store and save even more money.

Shoprite Coupon Trip 💜👜💰✂️📰

I got into cutting coupons again from a friend. After seeing how much she saved and got from the store for free every week I was totally on board.
I tried to help some friends already with tips on how to coupon and get deals and it just blows my mind that they are not interested in saving money but always want to bitch that they don’t have any money to do anything or buy anything.

Someone at work actually said to myself and my friend that we will become hoarders but I don’t think so. We are the ones with the clean organized desks and there’s looks a hot mess. I don’t know how they find anything in the mess. We purchase want we know we will use and have room for and that’s it. We both know our limits on space and to be honest neither one of us have a home to load up a space with shelves lol like on tv.

It is very easy to get deals and iphone apps help as well and there are also so many blogs that do most of the work for you. I go every sat morning to the dollar store and get about 5 or so sunday papers. They sell their papers the day before which is great but get there early or u won’t get any.

Sometimes I run home and see what coupons are in the paper that they currently have sales on and run up to get them before Sunday when the sale is already over and a new one has started. I have learned that if u miss a deal don’t worry there will be another one and sometimes the one a few weeks after the coupon comes out is better then the original one.

I also download coupons to my reward card to get extra savings and I write my list and attach coupons because Shoprite only doubles 20 coupons at a time so I split up my orders. This way I can keep track of which order is which.

I have helped another coworker by helping fill a basket for her of home essentials she will need. I have also given my mom tons of household items and food to stock their house and also have given my sister a few bags of items that I know she likes. I think my mom needs to have a party soon with all the tea, soda and juice I have got her the last few weeks lol my sister actually thought my mom was having a party lol.

What I do is look for items on sale and Shoprite doubles so a $2.49 item will only cost be .49 if I have $1 off coupon. Can’t beat that I have got tons of chicken and beef strips great for salads and tacos for .49 each and I freeze them so they last longer. I also have got about 10 bags of turkey meatballs for .49 each and they are usually $4 each without the sale and my coupons. Pasta haven’t paid for noodles in a long time I have got them for free can’t beat it.

Again I don’t understand how some of my friends can’t do this simple task to save money when I know they live paycheck to paycheck and always say they don’t have money or a savings acct. If they started using coupons they could start a savings acct and if u know u buy these items multiple times a month anyway why not buy that amount at one time when u can get it cheaper and much less the buying one at a time. My groceries this week fit in a small cart cause of how much I have stocked my freezer and cabinets lol.

Good luck if u start using coupons and it is addicting lol sometimes the store has to pay me to take their items which goes towards more groceries yea!!

My Pinterest Addiction

I am so addicted to Pinterest and have pinned more projects and ideas then I will actually do lol. I am sure many of you are in the same boat. I know my husband wishes I didn’t find Pinterest lol I have so many ideas to complete in our home but I know he doesn’t want to do some of my crazy projects I suggest so I may turn in a carpenter and take some classes. It can’t to be hard to measure and cut some pieces of wood to make a window seat , right!!!!!

I have a large window in my kitchen and since out kitchen is small I would love to make a window seat that has storage underneath for my larger appliances. This way it would leave more cabinet space for my dishes and bakeware. Currently I use my broiler drawer for my baking sheets lol

I also wanted to somehow have a little island in the middle as cooking space.
Don’t know if this will work out because we have live here for 14 years now and are use to an open kitchen. I know I will be the first to stump my toe in the middle of the night if I have it in the middle of the floor lol

I will post pictures at the end of the blog that I loved and seen on Pinterest. Some came from thriftyandchic.com and sensationalgirl.com and the other pics didn’t give a website so sorry about not giving u credit.

Storage Bin to Toy Box Makeover

Storage Bin to Toy Bin

Creative Dominican

I was tired of looking at the ugly plastic bin I’ve been using as a toy box, but I didn’t want to spend money on an actual toy box. I decided to just give the bin a little makeover. It just took some wrapping paper, Mod Podge, burlap and decorative fence post caps to go from this:

To this:

Like it? I think it looks great. The bin is in my family room so I picked materials that would go well with my current decor, but the possibilities are endless.

Materials:

1. Bin
2. Fabric or wrapping paper. I used about a yard of burlap and wrapping paper I picked up at the dollar store
3. To keep the cost down I used decorative fence post caps as the legs instead of actual furniture legs. They cost about $3 each
4. Rope
5. Mod Podge
6. Hot glue
7. Lock…

Love note board❤️❤️

Love Note Board

Maggie May's

I recently saw this adorable idea on The DIY Wannabe’s blog page. I loved the concept of it and it seemed like a fun way to share little love notes. I wanted to share my version.

All you need is a picture frame. I found this old frame for $4.00.

Make a Love Note Board

I wanted one that was kind of big so it wouldn’t look awkward on the wall. I just removed the print and the glass and painted the frame white.

paint frame

In place of the print (or if your frame is new), just line the back with pretty paper, gift wrap, fabric, or decorative tissue paper like I used. Glue a cut out of a typed “I love you because” toward the top.

Make a Love Note Board

Put the backing and glass back into the frame and hang on the wall.

All you need are some white board markers and an eraser.
